1990 AT THE MOVIES

The year that was 1990 saw several impactful moments over the course of its 12 months. Home Alone and Ghost did huge box office numbers, with Home Alone pulling in almost $300 million domestically alone. Dances With Wolves won Best Picture at the 48th Academy Awards with Kevin Costner earning Best Director honors. Universal Pictures celebrated it's 75th anniversary while Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles became the highest-grossing independent film of all time at that point.

  7. Total Recall (Sony) - $119.4 million
  8. Die Hard 2 (Fox) - $117.5 million
  9. Dick Tracy (Buena Vista) - $103.7 million
  10. Kindergarten Cop (Universal) - $91.5 million
